GREENGUARD Certified
• For Children and Schools •

The Greenguard Certification Program is an industry independent, third-party testing program for low emitting products and materials. Even if a product passes Greenguard testing, it still may not be in the same category as our environmentally-friendly GreenScreen fabrics. Fabrics containing PVC may pass Greenguard certification; because they contain low or no VOCs. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are organic chemical compounds that have high enough vapor pressures under normal conditions to significantly vaporize and enter the atmosphere. Common artificial sources of VOCs include paint thinners, dry cleaning solvents, and some constituents of petroleum fuels (e.g. gasoline and natural gas). VOCs are sometimes accidentally released into the environment, where they can damage soil and contaminate groundwater.

Vapors of VOCs escaping into the air contribute to air pollution. Many VOCs found around the house, such as paint strippers and wood preservatives, contribute to Sick Building Syndrome because of their high vapor pressure. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has found concentrations of VOCs in indoor air to be two to five times greater than in outdoor air. Elimination of PVC content in production of GreenScreen fabrics means that shades contain no VOCs and do not “off-gas” during the life of the product. Off-Gas refers to the undissolved ozonated air collected from the reaction tank(s) or de-ozonizing filter which must be safely vented to the outside atmosphere.

Green Fabrics

The GreenScreen line of solar shading fabrics is the high-performance, PVC-free alternative to traditional shading fabrics. These shading fabrics contain low or no VOCs . Because GreenScreen fabrics are PVC-free solar control products, they can easily be recycled. They are also FR rated, meeting standards for the North American market.

LEED Certification

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building project meets the highest performance standards. The LEED plaque is recognized nationwide as proof that a building is environmentally responsible, profitable, and a healthy place to live and work.

LEED-certified buildings:

• Lead the transformation of the built environment by lowering operating costs and increasing asset value.
• Are healthy and comfortable for their occupants.
• Reduce landfill waste and harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
• Conserve energy and water.
• Qualify for tax rebates, zoning allowances, and other incentives in hundreds of cities.
• The Confidence In Textiles is a global testing and accrediation scheme for the screening of harmful
substances within consumer textiles. It is a leading label for textiles that have been screened for harmful substances.
